Kia ora!

I'm Emily Woodhurst, a freelance indexer who works across disciplines to reshape how readers engage with a text.

I’m a New Zealander-turned-Canadian living in British Columbia. I hold a Master of Engineering, specializing in geothermal reservoir modelling, and spent four years as an academic researcher and consultant. More recently, since moving to Canada, I have volunteered as the president of a rock climbing non-profit and worked as the administrator of a community arts centre.

My indexing training is from Toronto Metropolitan University.

I am a curious person who loves to learn. My background as an engineering academic lends well to the attention to detail and critical thinking required for indexing, and allows me to specialize in working with scientific academic material.

I am a rock climber and weaver and currently act as co-editor and publisher for the Guild of Canadian Weavers’ quarterly Bulletin.

Above, climbing at Froggats, my old local back in NZ.

Below, some sheep hanging out on a beach on Waiheke Island. Because of course you are curious about Lord of the Rings, the All Blacks, and sheep...
